Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Are they new superheroes?
No.
But they are the new face of business networking in Hull and the East Riding.
They are the names for the new super groups that are set to change the way that members of The Business Culture Hull interact with each other and refer business.
From the first week in January 2021, members of the Business Culture Hull will have an added benefit to their membership with the introduction of this all-new way of networking. Something that the members themselves have shaped and named.
One of the founding partners of the Business Culture Hull, Tony Bowler explains: “We have always promoted ourselves as being a business club rather than a networking organisation. We believe passionately in helping local companies do business through creating a culture of collaboration and mutual support rather than having a carrot and stick mentality.
“Many of our members also belong to networking organisations and we were constantly hearing about the things they didn’t like. We could see there was a need for a different type of networking but we wanted to rip up the rule book and start with a blank sheet of paper. We surveyed our members and together we have devised the two groups which will be launching in January 2021. With others to follow.
“Members gave us a list of 12 things they liked and 50 things they disliked with what is currently on offer elsewhere. They also had a wish list of around 30 other ideas that we considered. We put everything together into a comprehensive survey and asked members to vote on each recommendation.
“What we have created is a new and improved approach to networking. We have two groups, each with 25 members representing a single industry sector. Our ethos is still culture rather than rules. Members voted against a points system or pressure to pass business referrals. Instead we will refer business based on trust, respect and a desire to help each other succeed. There will be plenty of time for networking and a regular personal development section at the meetings.”
2020 has been the year for online networking and Business Culture Hull has been an important lifeline for many local small businesses. The new groups will continue to meet virtually until such time as in-person events can take place safely and effectively.
With an already impressive array of member benefits from members’ directory and website to masterclasses and now with the option of joining one of the new networking groups, there has never been a better time to join Business Culture Hull.
